Infant
Thank you for your interest in our Infant Program at Mountain View Montessori. We know that selecting an education and care program for your infant is an important decision. We are committed to making the transition from home to our Montessori program a positive experience for your child and family.

Our Infant Program is designed for children ages 6 weeks to 18 months and has a staff to child ratio of 1:3.3. We significantly exceed state licensing requirements in this regard because we believe infants need more individualized attention and care to successfully grow and develop into loving, curious toddlers. Our infant room is designed to be exceptionally child friendly with soft heated floors and customized materials. At Mountain View Montessori, we:

• Develop trust by providing an environment where adults respond attentively to the infant’s communication of needs to be loved, respected, and accepted
• Provide an environment where infants can learn by watching and moving freely
• Believe the infant is affected by the quality of holding and feeding, in addition to the quality of physical care
• Establish partnerships with the family
• Provide a flexible sequence of routines and activities that reinforce the rhythmic patterns of activities of individual infants, not a rigid schedule
• Create an atmosphere that communicates unconditional love and acceptance

The daily needs of the infant, such as diapering and feeding are the optimal times for interaction, cooperation, and mutual enjoyment. Using these times for social learning experiences encourages full participation of the infant and caregiver. These times become the opportunity for communication, learning and nurturing. While we are sensitive to each infants own schedule, below is a sample daily routine:

6:30 - 7:30 Arrival/ Exploring materials
7:30- 8:30 Morning Snack
8:30 - 9:00 Circle Time/ Activity
9:00 - 10:30 Nap Time - Children who do not sleep or awaken early are served a snack, or taken out for a walk/ playground time
10:30 - 11:30 Music/ Activity Time
11:30 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 - 1:30 Story/ Activity Time
1:30 - 3:30 Nap Time
3:30 - 4:00 Snack
4:00 - 6:00 Playground/ Activity Time
